STEP-BY-STEP BUILD VIDEOS

3D Assembly Animation Services

A printed instruction sheet asks your customer to imagine the build. An assembly animation shows it. We model every part, then fly each one into place in the order it actually goes together, so the person holding the box always knows what comes next.

01

A build video for a laser-cut model kit

This is a mine headgear winding tower supplied as a flat-pack MDF school project kit. Every part was rebuilt in Blender directly from the laser-cut sheet layout, then animated into position in true assembly order. The result is 35 seconds, silent, and shot in a 4:5 portrait frame so it drops straight onto Instagram, TikTok, a WhatsApp catalogue or a product page without recropping.

02

Why an assembly animation outperforms a printed sheet

Flat-pack returns and support calls almost always trace back to one confusing step. Video removes the ambiguity: the viewer sees the orientation of a part, which slot it enters and what the model looks like immediately afterwards. It also travels. A printed sheet stays in the box, while a build video works as a product listing, a paid advert and a support link at the same time.

03

How the animation is built

We start from your cut files, CAD or a physical sample. Each part is modelled to the real dimensions, then parented to a motion path so the fly-in reads clearly rather than sliding through neighbouring pieces. Camera moves are kept slow and readable. Lighting is flat and neutral so the geometry stays legible at phone size, which is where most people will actually watch it.

04

Exploded views and X-ray passes

Beyond straight assembly we produce exploded views that hold every component suspended in position, and X-ray passes that fade the outer shell so internal structure becomes visible. These suit technical products where the value sits inside the housing and a normal product photo cannot show it.

05

What you receive

A finished MP4 in the aspect ratios you need, typically 4:5 portrait for social, 16:9 for a website hero and 1:1 for catalogue tiles. Files are compressed for web delivery, so a 35 second animation lands under 2MB and will not slow your product page. A still frame is supplied as a poster image. Source Blender files are available on request.

06

Who this is for

Manufacturers of flat-pack and laser-cut kits, furniture brands, hardware and tooling suppliers, and anyone shipping a product the customer has to assemble. It also suits engineering and mining suppliers in Gauteng who need to explain equipment that is difficult to photograph.

Jargon, translated

Words you will hear from anyone in this industry, in plain English.

Assembly animationA video showing parts joining in the real order of construction, step by step.
Exploded viewEvery component held apart in space, in position, showing how the whole thing fits.
X-ray passThe outer shell fades to transparent so internal parts become visible.
Fly-inA part travelling along a path from off-screen into its final seated position.
TurntableA slow full rotation of the finished model, used for hero shots and listings.
Poster frameThe still image shown before a video is played. Loads instantly, keeps pages fast.
4:5 portraitThe tall frame format that fills a phone screen on social feeds.
Flat-packA product shipped as separate parts for the customer to assemble.

Questions people actually ask

How long does an assembly animation take?

A single product of moderate complexity runs one to two weeks from approved files. Kits with a very high part count, or jobs where we model from a physical sample rather than cut files, take longer.

What do you need from me to start?

Cut files, CAD or STEP files are ideal. If you do not have them we can model from a physical sample and clear photographs, though that adds time.

Can you match my brand colours and packaging?

Yes. Materials, colours, backgrounds and end cards are all set per project, so the animation matches your packaging and existing product photography.

Will the video slow down my website?

No. We compress for web delivery and supply a poster image, so the video only downloads when someone presses play.

Still not sure if you need this?

Send a message describing what you sell. If this is the wrong thing for your business, you will be told so — that is cheaper for both of us than the wrong build.
